September 2013 Members Meeting
The Liberty Medal, authorized in 1987, commemorates the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, reminds us of our liberty and is presented for recruiting new members to the SAR. Compatriot William Fredrick Wright was sworn in by President Robert Folk as a new Regular Member. Compatriot Capt. Thomas Timing Holme Jr. was sworn in by President Robert Folk as a new Regular Member.

Jimmie Barnes, Bob Folk, Eric Head (Library Director), and Larry Sturgeon. They received the following: Jimmie Barnes – Willing Worker award, Bob Folk – Presidents Horizon award, Eric Head – Speaker Appreciation certificate and Larry Sturgeon Presidents Horizon award.

March 2013 Members Meeting
Jack Townsend (15 yrs), and Richard Sumner (10 yrs) received membership service Certificates. Ronald Powell and Warren Benjamin were sworn in as a members and presented with Membership Certificates and Rosettes. Charlie Day presents Supplemental Certificate and Star to Duane Laughlin. His supplemental ancestor is Corporal Francis Chaffin of Massachusetts. Francis died at Valley Forge on January 28th, 1778.

At the February meeting, Harley Nelson, at happy dollars, expressed is thanks for the 66 years he and Jean had been married. Received a hearty round of applause. Nathan Lovestrand was our Chapter Winner of the 2012, Withlacoochee Chapter, George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. Craig O’Dell, a Scout Volunteer from the Withlacoochee BSA District was Guest Speaker. New Member, Robert Haines was sworn in and presented his membership Certificate and Rosette by President Day. William Teater receiving the Bronze Good Citizenship Certificate and Medal.

Fred Learned receiving a certificate and star for having proved a new supplemental Patriot, Elisha Higgins of Vermont. This is Fred’s ninth supplemental. Carla Heimer receiving the Martha Washington Medal from Treasurer Jack Townsend. It was noted that along with a number of helpful things she does, she is often faithful at meeting our members and guest at the check- in table and assisting the Treasurer with receiving luncheon monies. LR Charlie Day presenting an appreciation certificate to Edward Gingrich for being our Guest Speaker today on “the cost drivers of pharmaceutical Prescription Drugs.” President Charlie Day, Judson and Barbara Lincoln Judson received a certificate recognizing him as one of the 98 men in the Florida Society that served during WWII.
