SAR COMPATRIOTS AWARDED ROGER SHERMAN MEDAL.... Three compatriot members of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the SAR were recent recipients of the Roger Sherman Medal. The medal is awarded in appreciation for service to the SAR. It is an award by a Chapter to a Chapter Member. It is awarded in recognition of, and in appreciation of, outstanding services rendered to the Chapter. Pictured from left to right are Chapter President Clyde Johnson, Chapter Past-President Charles Day, Chapter Past-President, and FLSSAR Past-President Robert Folk, Sr., and Chapter Past-President William Teater, who presented the medal awards. Requirements to receive the Roger Sherman Medal are: served as an Active Officer for a minimum of 2 years; Chairman of a Committee for 3 years; an active Member of a committee for 4 years. The Roger Sherman Medal is named after Roger Sherman (1792 - 1793) who was the only person to have signed all four Congressional Papers of the United States. Those documents are: The Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution.
Spring Hill Resident Receives SAR Color Guard Medal
Leonard Crawford of Spring Hill recently was awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Bronze Color Guard Medal. The medal was awarded for at least three years of service and the number of color guard events in which he participated. Crawford is a 15-year member of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. His patriot ancestor was David Armstrong of PA.
