In July, the 128th annual National Congress of The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) convened in Houston, Texas. During the Recognition Awards Night, a local resident, Norman R. Freyer of Homossassa received the Col. Stewart Boone McCarty Award. This is a cash award of $350.00 and certificate to this compatriot who has best furthered the preservation of the United States History and its traditional teachings in our schools. At the September meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the SAR, the award was presented to compatriot Freyer by Chapter President Larry Sturgeon.
