May 12, 2018 meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution,​First-place winner at the Chapter level of the 2018 SAR Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest was 5th grade student Sylvia Underwood of the Floral City Elementary School. Sylvia was presented with the 1st Place Award Certificate of Outstanding Citizenship Recognition and a cash prize of $100.

​​May 12, 2018 meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, FLSSAR Immediate Past State President Robert Folk, Chapter Past President Charles Day and Chapter President Larry Sturgeon presented Norman Freyer the Distinguished Service Medal and Certificate and the FLSSAR State Silver Roger Sherman Medal and Certificate.

New member John Richard Elley, III Inducted During the May meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Compatriot John Richard Elley, III, was inducted in the Society. Compatriot Elley is a resident of Homosassa, FL. His Patriot Ancestor is Henry Smoot of Maryland. The SAR rosette was pinned on Mr. Elley by his grandson, Richard D. Elley.
