Withlacoochee SAR Chapter Conducts Officer Installation Ceremony
At the January General Meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution, installation ceremonies were conducted for the 2017 officer slate. The ceremonies were conducted by FLSSAR Senior Vice President Robert Folk. Those inducted were, President, Larry Sturgeon of Spring Hill; First Vice President, George Edge, Jr., of Hernando; Second Vice President, Richard Trout, Jr. of Brooksville; Treasurer, Jack Townsend of Inverness; and Secretary, Stephen Brown, of Dunnellon. Larry Sturgeon Awarded Chapter Medal for Distinguished Service
The Sons of the American Revolution, Withlacoochee Chapter, Retiring President, Clyde Johnson has presented The Chapter Medal for Distinguished Service to Compatriot Larry Dean Sturgeon of Spring Hill. The Chapter Medal for Distinguished Service is the highest medal that can be awarded by a Chapter President. The incumbent Chapter President may present one medal during his term (or each year of his term if elected to a multiyear term) at the Chapter’s General Meeting, to a Compatriot in recognition for that Compatriot's conspicuous service to the Chapter during the president's administration. Vicki Brown Awarded the Lydia Darragh Medal Award
SAR Withlacoochee Chapter President Clyde Johnson awarded the Lydia Darragh Medal to Ms. Vicki Brown at the Chapter General Meeting in January. The purpose of this medal is to recognize the lady that the Chapter President determines to have been the most helpful to him during his tenure in the progressive line. The particular lady must have been involved for a minimum of three years. Only one award is permitted each year and it is only designated by the incumbent Chapter President. She was instrumental in assisting in genealogical records processing for new members through the SAR State and National membership registration levels. Her efforts have resulted in a 17% increase in new chapter members. Pictured below from left to right are retiring Chapter President Clyde Johnson, and medal recipient Vicki Brown.
