Withlacoochee Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, honored Compatriot John L. Shinn Jr. at the Citrus Springs Memorial Library today – December 12, 2013. Mr. Shinn passed away on May 29, 2013 while visiting at Wapakoneta, Ohio. The SAR Chapter Past President, William Teater, presented the book “Commodore John Barry, The Father of the American Navy” to Lorna Eastman, the Library Manager, in memory of John L. Shinn Jr. Then Chapter President, Robert Folk, read a Resolution of Honor and Memoriam which he presented to John’s son Michael representing the Shinn family. Michael and his wife Arlene flew in from California to attend the service and a family friend John Curtis was also in attendance.
