SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal, Beverly Howard - May 17, 2014
The SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal was awarded to Beverly Howard of the Citrus County School District in recognition of her dedication to elementary school education teaching the values of Good Citizenship, Patriotism and American History. She has given the Withlacoochee Chapter consistent support in the use of the Elementary School Americanism Poster Contest as a teaching aid regarding the American War for Independence. Furthermore, she has promoted the values of Good Citizenship to the elementary school students throughout the school district. She is an educator with more than 25 years of classroom experience. She served as a K-12 Teacher on Special Assignment, supporting Social Studies teachers in the Citrus County Schools. She was elected as Teacher of the Year for Citrus Springs Elementary School in 2004, Homosassa Elementary School in 2011, and was chosen as the 2011 Citrus County District Teacher of the Year. She is a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her patriot ancestor is Thomas O’Kelly, from the state of North Carolina. She was accompanied by her husband, Mike Howard.
