Inverness Primary School Awards Day, Poster Contest Winner -
May 21, 2014 - 3rd Place
The Inverness Primary School Awards program was held on May 21, 2014. The third place winner in the SAR Elementary School Americanism Poster Contest, Kayli Swayze, was presented with the Outstanding Citizen Award Certificate, a check for $25.00 and the General Francis Marion medal, the official medal of the "Swamp Fox Murals Trail Society". Her poster faced competition from over 360 entries from elementary schools in Citrus and Hernando counties. Mrs. Robin Hindley, 5th Grade teacher at Inverness Primary School, was presented a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence. This was in recognition the use of the SAR Americanism Poster Contest as a learning tool in teaching students about American History. The SAR Withlacoochee Chapter presents the copies of the nation's original documents to share with schools something that is permanent, educational and patriotic. The copy of the Declaration will be displayed on a wall at the school.
